I have a confession to make. I now run a 3rd Instagram page. You read that right a 3rd Instagram page. You all know (at least you should know lol) my main page @Thickgrlscloset. In 2016 I started a woman empowerment page @IEmbodyMe, which has so amazing since starting it. Now as a result of my time with Jenny Craig and for my own personal accountability, I started my plus size fitness Instagram page @ShayShapesUp.
Now why @ShayShapesUp? The truth is, a lot of my fitness, and health related content just doesn’t fit in with the content of my main IG page. At first I wanted to just have everything in one place, but to be honest the aesthetics just don’t mesh. I actually like that I can have my fashion, hair & beauty page and then have a separate page for my fitness & health content.
It’s important for me to have place where I can post my trips to the gym and how active I am. There are tons of plus size women that are active everyday. We’re in the gym, we’re doing yoga, we’re leading dance classes, we’re power lifters and so much more. There are so many plus size fitness instagram pages out there and it’s nice to be among them. It’s nice to have a different form of inspiration. It’s nice to be able garner inspiration from other fitness IG pages and to add what I do from day to day when I go to the gym. As my time with Jenny Craig comes to end, I look forward to posting about my meals.
@ShayShapesUp is my health journey. I’ve always stressed having the right mindset when embarking on a fitness journey. For me it’s not about losing weight, it’s not about wanting to be skinny or thin. For it’s all about keeping my energy level up, clearing my skin, getting my lil peach looking right! I’m no expert on fitness or health, but I know what works for me and my body and hope that I can inspire one of you on your journey.
