Black Girl Magic is Power

Black Girl Magic

Hey Loves,

I can’t tell you how excited I am to FINALLY post these pics. I had the amazing opportunity to shoot with the amazing head wrap company Fanm Djanm. Owned by a good friend Paola Mathe, Fanm Djanm gives endless visual of the beauty and diversity of black women. When Paola emailed me and asked if I wanted to be a part of this project, I couldn’t email her back fast enough. This shoot was all about celebrating black history month and our power as black women. I mean honestly, why would I not want to be a part of this? If you aren’t familiar with Fanm Djanm (strong woman in creole) it is the brainchild of Paola Mathe that brings quality headwraps, clothing, jewelry and more to your closet. Paola is not just about selling headwraps but rather creating a story that will allow women to look, feel and be empowered. Be sure to check out her website. You most certainly won’t be disappointed. Soooooo excuse me while I sprinkle #BlackGirlMagic all down this blog post.

On a really really really cold Saturday in January Paola gathered all of us in Brooklyn. Dumbo to be exact. With her very explicit instructions, we all dressed in black and were ready to follow her vision. It’s really amazing to watch her work because even in the middle of on shot, she’s already to thinking and setting up the next. Granted we were FREEZING (not that you can tell in the photos) we knew that something amazing was going to come out of this. The photographer Aaron Pegg of @Underground_nyc on Instagram was so bomb. He got every single shot. His work really is amazing.

Models; Tabria Majors, Amiraa Vee , Your’s Truly, Al Malonga, Riva Nyri Precil, Krista Tolode and Paola Mathe

Because why not make an iconic photo even more iconic

Unity has such beauty

To see ALL the amazing photos head to Fanm Djanm‘s website to see the full BLACK POWER storyline. The photos are stunning and I am so grateful to have been a part of such an inspiring photo shoot. Also shop all of our headwraps on the site as well. See you in my next post.

xoxo

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this. In addition, the blog loads super fast for me on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!
