In case you didn’t already know bad gal Rihanna launched her new lingerie line entitled Savage x Fenty. Her collection hit the internet at 12am May 11th and of course I was on the site immediately an bought a few pieces. I was quite excited because her collection feature plus sizes as well so naturally I had my coins ready. Savage x Fenty goes up to a size 3x and bra sizes up to 44DD. I purchased only 5 pieces because ya girl is on a budget. So I could not wait to share my thoughts on Savage x Fenty plus size lingerie. I have some mixed feelings about the collection, but I believe in giving brands the opportunity to get “it right” before moving on.
I purchased 2 pairs of underwear, the lock Dot Babydoll, a Lace Bralette & The Sheer Marabou Short Robe. Both pairs of underwear fit me really well and I have zero complaints about either of those.
The Flock Dot Babydoll I purchased in a 2x/3x. I loved how it fit my bust both with and without a bra underneath. The straps are adjustable and very comfortable. I’m also completely here for the length; fun, flirty & sexy. The one thing that was a complete turn off about this babydoll is the feather trim. The feathers were all over my apartment. I had to be very careful when putting it on or just moving around. I didn’t want the trim to fall off or something. I expected a little more quality out of Savage x Fenty.
The lace bralette was the pieces that I really wanted to work. The sizing does not go by your bra size. Which is very typical of bralettes. I have mine in a 2x, which is my typical size for bralettes. The 2x on me was too small and did not fit properly. The little support that is there, was just fine, but I didn’t like that 2x kept rolling on me and digging into my skin. I had to constantly readjust it. As far my bra size, I wear 42C and you see how it fits me. If I’m wearing a 2x and it doesn’t fit so well with me, I would have to size up, I’m sure someone who has a larger chest than me, would struggle with fit as well. There were 2 different styles of bralettes that were available in plus size, which also included her nude tones that were perfect for women of color.
The sheer marabou short robe gave me every bit of 1920’s actress vibes. I felt super sexy. I have mine in xl/1x and fit perfectly. There are no strings to keep it closed, so would have to readjust it, but that’s fine because it’s not like you’ll have it on for long. RIGHT?!?!? My main issue with this robe is the same as the black babydoll, the feathers were flying all over the place. If you’re not into the purple, it will be available in black. I can’t lie a black sheer robe is a next level sexy.
Also please take note when ordering this robe, it is only available if you purchase the Savage x Membership. The savage x membership is a $50 annual fee that you pay to have access to exclusive pieces. The$50 fee will be added to your overall total during checkout. If you chose not to pay for the membership, you cannot access certain items in the collection.
Now my thought on the collection. Overall I like the line. I don’t think this is Rihanna’s best, and there is definitely room for improvement in regards to sizing. Stopping a 44DD for the bras is not enough, her team definitely needs to extend the sizes. I also slightly disappointed that not everything was available in plus sizes. There were quite a few cute pieces that I would’ve loved to try on, but couldn’t because it wasn’t available in my size. I think if Savage x Fenty wants to be truly inclusive, they should overall of their pieces in plus sizes. I will applaud Rihanna’s team for the inclusion of nude shades for women of color. She gets major points for that.
I would like to see a little bit more color and I would love to see them amp up the sexy a little bit more. With that being said, I’m going to keep my eyes on future launches for Savage x Fenty. We’ve seen Rihanna slowly roll out new items to her various collections. So I will stay optimistic for now.
See you in my next post.
