Chubby Cartwheels is an online-only brand based out of Portland, OR, with a lot of fashion-forward pieces that don’t exist in other places. She goes up to 5x/32. I really like her skater dresses and leggings.

There’s also Ulla Popken, a German brand that sells clothing online in the US and UK. They go up to 38 in most items, with a small number of items available in sizes going up to 44/46. In my experience, their stuff runs small in the waist, large in the shoulders and bust, and *very* long, so if you’re tall and hourglassy, they’ll likely be a good fit for you.

What about brands that sell plus size clothes that DON’T sell one dress for over $100… I’m poor AND fat which makes it so hard to find clothes I can actually afford. Any suggestions?

I try to find the brands mentioned in the article at resale stores or on ThredUP.com and Poshmark app. I get them for a fraction of the price!

JC Penney and Woman Within have really good sales and coupons. I subscribe to their emails and watch for when the discounts get big. Then look in clearance + extra discount. I’ve found some very good bargains that way. Also, Walmart sells over size 24 and is not expensive.

My Walmarts here don’t have anything over a 22 most of the time in stores so I wasn’t really aware they had anything bigger but I just looked online and noticed that I’d be able to order and just pick up at my store so thank you for the suggestion! I also just found out about Woman Within and I’m excited to order some basic Ts and tanks that actually fit and that I can afford on my almost nonexistent budget. Lol. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me suggestions. 🙂

I think all these retailers are great but sizing is really all over the place. Torrid has started to run particularly small in some garments, for example, which surprised me when I ordered my regular size. Not always trusting Eloquii either. ASOS also has 24+!
