By the grace of God on February 12th I celebrated my 23rd birthday! I always like to celebrate my birthday because I know a lot of people don’t make it to see 23. I always go out of my way to find a cute outfit. This birthday was no different. But I must say it was a rather busy birthday. It was in the middle of fashion week and it was on Mardi Gras. And to ring my awesome birthday I got to walk in my 1st fashion show. #epicwin
Last Friday I had the awesome pleasure of attending the preview for the spring 2013 line of Becca Etc. Swimwear line. (I had a blast. check out the photos on my facebook fan page) I know you all keep thinking why do I keep writing about bathing suits in the winter. But I think this line is one that every woman can enjoy. Rebecca Virtue the designer of this rather awesome line, has been designing bathing suits for straight size women for 20+ years. And when she saw a void in the plus size community she decided to create a line that is not only appealing to the eye but is constructed to support us plus size/curvy/thick women.
Her line offers both one pieces as well as 2 pieces (owww owww) No more of only wearing black, or the nothing but ruching or buying the “miracle suit” to look 10 pound lighter. Be ready to rock bold colors, prints, different versions of 2 pieces, and one piece suits that don’t look like something you grandmother should be wearing.
Lets check out the line…
This style is my absolute favorite. The bustier is so sexy. Again it offers incredible support, and has an adjustable lace up back It is available in this great Peacock (blue), Hibiscus (purple) and black. And the little skirt keeps the suit young and modern, but still gives you that feeling of being covered. It is a full bottom.
Talk about not the 1 piece we’re use to. I HATE when I see plus size bathing suits and all they offer is those horrid bathing suits with that skirt at the bottom. Im 22 not 72. I don’t want to cover up everything. Becca etc, made sure to keep the sexy and sassy all the while giving us piece of mind that we are covered. And I mean really lace is always the best.
It’s official I am moving to Australia lol. They always have options for us curvy women. I want to introduce you all to Autograph . It is an awesome plus size line based out of Australia, and offers some great pieces from size 14-26. I had the pleasure of looking through the site, really seeing what they had to offer, and I was really impressed. If you’re a girl that needs options for a office work environment or looking for trendy options, they got you covered. They offer everything from tops, dresses, swimware, intimates, and accessories. Check out some of their options below.
Autograph does ship internationally, and for a reasonable price. The site itself is very easy to navigate and understand what they have to offer. That is always a big deal for me as an avid online shopper. #Random #sidenote (I love that they used a curvy model to display there clothes.) What do you all think?
Until next time loves!
So hurricane Sandy did a real number on the NY/NJ area. To be honest the worse that happened for me was losing power and not being able to use my laptop. So I am truly blessed. But being that traffic is so horrid, I have been pretty much stuck at my mom’s house. But my mom was conveniently in North Carolina during the storm. So you know I headed straight for her closet lol
I found this top at the back of her closet. It’s a size 24 so I knew she wouldn’t be wearing no time soon. And clearly she never wore it cause it still has a tag on it. It’s huge on me, but its nothing a little needle, thread and a belt can’t cure. I found these awesome printed jeggings about 2 weeks ago from Dots. I have been trying to find the perfect to for it. I think I’m heading in the right direction? Don’t you?
My shoes are from back in the day lol ok just my high school years. Got them from Nine West, 6 or 7 years strong lol
Top: found in moms closet
Shoes: Nine West (old)
What do you think? Until next time ladies.
I enjoy seeing major designers having an open mind and allow the average woman to purchase their designs. For the past year and some change Lela Rose has been one of my favorite designers. Particularly in her shoe designs. I think she really has an eye for mixing colors, textures, and prints. Her shoes are about making a statement; which speaking from experience, they do just that. Her fall collection keeps with what I’ve come to love about her.
I personally own the yellow strap pumps. They are super comfortable, which is also a staple in Lela Rose designs. She is now and forever a part of my choice of designers.
In my last post I talked about my lovely time at the SBOC event last night. So lets get into my outfit for the night. I had a rather difficult time deciding what to wear. I knew I wanted this top, and I wanted to wear my blue wedges, but I didn’t know what to wear in the middle (my pants lol). But in true Shay fashion, my outfit was last minute. And the glasses were a last minute touch and they were a total hit! Point blank I loved my outfit!
#random #sidenote I did my own make up last night and I’m pretty damn proud of myself. Bare Essentials is officially my new love.

First let me give a shout out to Dots for selling this dress! So today was a relatively nice day here in Jersey, Nice enough to walk outside and not die of a heat stroke the second you walk outside lol I was heading to lunch with my bestie and then headed to the mall. So i threw on this hi/low dress I got from Dots about 2 weeks ago. When I saw this two tone dress, I just knew it had to make its way into my closet. It’s really thin, so I had to break out the spanx (which I have to buy a new pair) to wear it. But its fine because I got tons and tons of complements on it today. I wore it two ways. I tried it with the blue accessories and then kept it simple when we actually went to the mall. But I am definitely in love with the hi/low hems for the summer.

I’ve always taken a liking to Dorothy Perkins as brand, but never really perused their site much. and I’m mad i haven’t done so. being bored so early at work, I started looking at their dresses and needless to say i want them all. Being that I now work in a very fashionable environment, it is imperative for me to step my game ALL THE WAY up. lol The girls in my office, in my opinion always look effortlessly put together. I am determined to always look my best.
So here are a few pieces I’m loving right now
So what do you guys think. I have to put Dorothy Perkins on my radar ASAP. To see more dresses click here
To all my young ladies, it’s about that time again. Yup it’s
PROM SEASON! One of the most anticipated events in a girl’s life. I don’t know
about you but I couldn’t wait for my proms. My high school did two proms a
year. We had a junior prom which was more of a glorified cocktail party. We
didn’t have to do the full floor length gowns (at least not if you didn’t want
to). It was more of a knee length or just above the knee. It’s a little more
Now I’m like any plus size/curvy female that loves fashion. Monif C. as a clothing line is at the top of our list. I have yet to see a collection from her that I don’t salivate over. But I have to say, the spring 2012 collection has me reworking my monthly budget to see if I can it to fit a Monif C. piece. Spring is all about colors and being light and airy. But this year bold colors are out to play. And in seeing what a lot of stores, and lines are doing this spring is there are really mixing bold colors together, Mixing purples and oranges, pinks and yellows, blues and greens. It really gives a new feeling to being fierce and fabulous
And of course Monif C. does her line justice by using actually curvy women as her models. Clearly this isn’t anything new. But you know as well as I do that, it gives the clothing a different look and feel when you see on a young woman that looks like you, rather than a straight size woman or a manacan. You get an idea of your beautiful and curvy your body will look.
