Going Print Crazy

Hey Loves,

So recently within the last couple days, I have been going on a print binge. I find myself gravitating towards anything with an aztec print or a geometric print. Granted it’s definitely a trend for the summer. But a lot of my recent purchases include something with a really strong print.

But the truth is print is very fashion forward and chic. Now I don’t advocate for full on print outfits, because only certain people can pull it off the right way. I am not one of those people. But pairing a printed shoe with a basic suit, or top and bottom. You allow for the shoe to be your statement.

One of my recent purchases from Shoedazzle. For those that want to be office chic, there will do it for you.

Some times a nice printed jumpsuit with a black shoe and statement jewelry can do wonders.

Or my recent personal favorite; harem pants with a nice denim top and flats is great for a summer brunch with the girls.

And who doesn’t love a bandu top. Ladies don’t get it twisted, we can wear bandu tops, just know the difference between chic and tacky.

Here are some other printed options, that I’m currently swooning over
ING dress from Macy’s
Igigi wrap dress via Madison Plus

Kaleidoscope pants for Dorothy Perkins
These are just a select few items that I have my eye on. Remember prints are made to be fun, and to add to your overall look. Not overpower. Cause the last thing you want is to look like Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala looking like you grandmother’s couch. lol I’m just saying. So let me know how you feel about prints.
Until next time loves.

I Wear Purple Pants

If you saw the last post, I wrote about the awesome store opening Shirley & Alice, it wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t do an outfit post. I must say I am in total love with this outfit. I was finally able to wear these great pants I got from the thrift store. Since I was heading to a vintage store opening, it was only right that I pull out something vintage. But I knew I didn’t want to wear a skirt. I really wanted to wear pants.

When I 1st bought these pants, I knew exactly what I want to wear with them. And when I found this top from H&M, I knew it had to be mine. It is a cardigan that i turned backwards…just trying to be creative! And my shoes…I got the on sale from Macy’s when I 1st saw them, I actually was kinda eh whatever. But then I put them on, and it was all she wrote lol

Outfit Details:
Tops: H&M
Pants: Thrift Store
Shoes: Style & Co. frm Macys
Bag: DIY

Ok I have to say that I am so in love with this red lipstick. .99 from CVS. I’m always skeptical about red lippy colors. I was have the hardest time finding one that worked for me. But when I put this on, honey child I couldn’t stop looking at myself in the mirror lol

All in all I loved this outfit and it was a great success! What do you think?

Until next time loves.

Black & Red & Vintage

Hey loves, It’s friday and I felt it was so imperative that I look cute lol I just thought it was appropriate. And I wanted a reason to wear this really awesome skirt I got from Unique thrift. I’ve been noticing lately that I’m really into printed vintage skirts. And to be honest I almost didn’t buy this skirt, my besties talked me into it. And thank god they did cause I love it.

The top is a DIY idea. I really wanted a sleeveless turtleneck top (imagine that right lol) so when I couldn’t find one I made one. and my shoes I got from Goodwill. The one I like to go to is like a mile away from a Target. And I noticed that a lot of old things that Target doesn’t they give to the good will. Total win!

Outfit Details:
Skirt: Unique Thrift
Top: DIY from Target
Shoes: Goodwill by way of Target
Bag: Gucci (Christmas gift)

Becca etc.

Last Friday I had the awesome pleasure of attending the preview for the spring 2013 line of Becca Etc. Swimwear line. (I had a blast. check out the photos on my facebook fan page) I know you all keep thinking why do I keep writing about bathing suits in the winter. But I think this line is one that every woman can enjoy. Rebecca Virtue the designer of this rather awesome line, has been designing bathing suits for straight size women for 20+ years. And when she saw a void in the plus size community she decided to create a line that is not only appealing to the eye but is constructed to support us plus size/curvy/thick women.

Her line offers both one pieces as well as 2 pieces (owww owww) No more of only wearing black, or the nothing but ruching or buying the “miracle suit” to look 10 pound lighter. Be ready to rock bold colors, prints, different versions of 2 pieces, and one piece suits that don’t look like something you grandmother should be wearing.

Lets check out the line…

This Mamba print was a hit for the night. I definitely love it. The purple and the blues are great for the spring. Yes it’s one strap, and no worries the girls will be supported.

This style is my absolute favorite. The bustier is so sexy. Again it offers incredible support, and has an adjustable lace up back It is available in this great Peacock (blue), Hibiscus (purple) and black. And the little skirt keeps the suit young and modern, but still gives you that feeling of being covered. It is a full bottom.

For those who may not be ready to show that stomach just yet, you still have really great tankini options. In the same great colors, offer the same proper support. She offers regular bottoms as well as skirt bottoms with adjustable sides.

Talk about not the 1 piece we’re use to. I HATE when I see plus size bathing suits and all they offer is those horrid bathing suits with that skirt at the bottom. Im 22 not 72. I don’t want to cover up everything. Becca etc, made sure to keep the sexy and sassy all the while giving us piece of mind that we are covered. And I mean really lace is always the best.

For those that need and or like a cover up, she’s got you covered! *Pun definitely intended*
All in all I was really pleased with Becca’s vision. She really kept us in mind when creating her line and that is so important. To find more looks and colors and any other information you would like to know be sure to check out the Becca Etc. website what do you think?

Let Sofistafunk Take You Over The Top

I have to say God definitely does work in mysterious ways and will make things happen for a reason. The other day on the bus as I was heading home from the city, I ran into ms. Linda Street of LiLi & Me and Pink Dragon. I haven;t seen her since NJ Full Figured Fashion week back in April, so it was a joy to see her. She was fly as usual. But as I was talking to her, she turned me on to this fantastic skirt company by the name of Sofistafunk and told me I had to check it out for myself. So I did and child, they quenched my thirst for some fashionable drama.

A collection of skirts and accessories designed for the woman who’s hips sway to the beat of her own music and her personal mantra is “attend but never blend”

The Sofistafunk label was born in 1999 to Arlinda McIntosh and daughter-in-law Cheshire Boone-Mickens. Bold, feminine and ultra versatile, the designs explore the alliances between the Elizabethan era through the Victorian period, and on to the late forties, creating a contemporary yet couture aesthetic; poetic in design the pieces awaken the memories of being a little girl playing dress up all while maintaining the ability to transition from 9-5 to an after work affair with ease.

No they aren’t specifically catering to plus size women, but I fell in love with the design aesthetic. I mean every little girls loves a full skirt that she can feel girlie in. As the description says, its very reminiscent of the Elizabethan and Victorian era, which for me are some of my favorite fashion ears, because parts me really enjoy the opulence of their skirts and gowns.

This fab skirt comes in mulitple (and i do mean multiple) colors, to fit every vibe and mood.
For the ladies that don’t want the floor length…a full midi skirt is just to die for. Again many color options!
For those that love out legs out…grab yourself a petticoat and be ready to rock!
Each of the 2 versions offer a drawstring closure so on size fits most.
And for my extra dramatic loves…Sofistafunk offers fantastic a-line skirts that will make you the bell of the ball and just the vision of a party. (yes you see how I channeled my inner Disney with that last line) lol

So whether you;re looking for next year’s halloween costume or, you’re looking to make a splash at your next event or holiday party, I’m sure Sofistafunk as the ability to make that happen. Also if there is skirt that you see that may be sold out online, they do take custom orders. So give them a call to see what kind of magic they can work up. What do you think? Until next time loves.

Fashion’s Crossroads

Now you all know I love helping out and shopping at plus size boutiques and stores here in the US. but sometimes we have to go outside our boarders to find cute and casual pieces to wear. No I’m not just talking about Simply Be, Evans, and Dorothy Perkins. One of my favorite countries that always seems to catch my eye for fashion is Australia  They tend to have a lot of hidden gems, and this post is not different Crossroads is an Australian based clothing store that offers sizes 8-22. If you’re looking for cute and casual piece they are some place to look into. They offer the basics that we all need as well everything that is on trend. So it’s really a great combination.

So let’s get into it…

Of course you know I have to start with the dresses, cause regardless of how cold it is outside, I live for dresses. Crossroads is definitely on trend with great prints, colors and the perfect hi/lo hems.
Leggings are always a must have, especially when they come in awesome prints like these..

Orange/rust is very much a fall trend (obviously lol) but I love the faux wrap sweater, perfect for those cool nights. And the black shirt at the bottom I just thought was super cute.

All in all I think you all should check out Crossroads and see what else they have to offer. They don’t ship internationally just yet, but I’m sure they will eventually. But for all my Australian followers they ship domestic and have an actually store #win. They also use paypal, so I mean really there is no reason why Crossroad shouldn’t be a go-to! What do you all think?

A Dramatic Holiday

Ok and yet again here I am swooning over Monif C. Her holiday collection 2012 has just been launched and I have to say if you are into the drama get you wallets ready. I always enjoy the holiday times because of all the parties the decorations and the spirit in the air. And what better way to show up at the party, than to be in a fabulous dress!

Lets start with the lace and the sleeves and the exposed zipper! With a great shoe and the right make up, you better hit your Naomi Campbell walk in this.

Now I know its all types of cold up here in the tri-state, but I have been dying to show some leg. And in this number, the boys better watch out.

Drama with a train, I’m a purple girl (in case you haven’t noticed lol) High low is still in, and that train behind it, any female coming in behind you better be on top of her game.

Now what would the holidays be without sequins? and ladies don’t let society tell you that plus size girls can’t wear sequins. We can and will rock the living hell out something like this.

So my dear ladies, as usual we got nothing short of fabulous from Monif C. to see the rest of her holiday collection and any other of the past lines check her website Monifc.com Most of these pieces won’t ship out until December, so be sure to put your order in. When you get yours, be sure to take pics and send them on over. Until next time loves.
