Plus Size Swimwear

Hey Loves,

Yes you have read the title right. We’re already talking about plus size swimwear and it’s ALL THE WAY like 10 degrees outside lol I know crazy right? But it really isn’t. I know we’re all waiting for the weather to warm up so we can flaunt ourselves on a beach on pool deck. So why not start making a list of the bathing suit you want from now?! This post will be similar to the one I did last year. (which seems to be one of my more popular post. check out Another Bathing Suit PostPlus size swimwear has made MAJOR leaps and bounds and I have full confidence that we’ll only see more options each year. Below I have listed some of the cutest options for all the plus size, thick and curvy women out there. Below you will find links to ALL the designers on this.

I decided to collect both one piece and bikinis. I know some of you may prefer the covering of a 1 piece suit but still want to be cute & sexy. Also I wanted to keep in mind the price, so all the selections below range in price for the most budget conscious to the girl that likes to splurge a bit.

Rewind My Red Dress

Hey Loves,

This summer I told myself I really wanted to stay away from high low dresses and skirts, because they are practically EVERYWHERE lol The market is so saturated with the cut that I’m in overload. But as I was getting dressed on this dreadfully hot day in NJ/NY I pulled out this dress that was all the way in the back of my closet. It was one of my favorites from last summer.

So I went against my own word and wore it lol. But I remember why I loved this dress so much. It is super light, comfy and perfect for a day with it’s sweltering out and I have to walk. And best of all it fits soooooo much better this year, than it did last year.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Target
Jewelry: Dots

This dress always made me want to dance!

Until next time loves

Roaring One Piece

I know with all the excitement around rockin bikinis, I still get some women that ask about one pieces. So may feel like they can’t be sexy in a one piece. And they are trying to figure out what to do. So I took it upon myself to pull out one of my favorite one pieces. I’ve had this bathing suit since before college. There was a time when I couldn’t fit it. But after having been doing the #pspfit bootcamp, I can fit back into it.

But anyway, for me I am definitely planning to be on someone’s beach or at someone’s pool this summer. I’m a Jersey girl, it should be illegal to not be at the beach lol. So for this I wanted to throw on a wrap, something  that can go from the water to the board walk.

Details:
Bathing Suit: Ross
Wrap: Scarf used as a wrap via H&M
Wedges: Target
Sunglasses: Lunettes Kollektion

Live love laugh
If you walk this earth feeling sexy, then everyone around you will feel it!

When I tell you I cannot wait to stand in one of  our glorious oceans this summer, I mean just that.

For me, feeling sexy in a one piece is all about find the “right” one piece.

-Pay close attention to sizing.
-Check to see if the suit itself is sized by your bra size, or if it is size by numbers.
-Make sure  if you are busty, you want the suit to give you proper support
-If you aren’t busty, (as I’m not) some bathing suits offer removable cups, which you can add or take away to create a little more lift

Stores with good options for  great one pieces

  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Old Navy
  • Ross (for my southern girls)
  • Forever 21
  • Macy’s
  • Lord & Taylor
  • Lane Bryant
  • Torrid
  • and of course a host of online shops

 Until next time loves!

Another Bathing Suit Post

Hey Loves,

I’m sure you’ve seen a million of these post, cause it’s that time of the year. Everyone is asking the same question, “where can I find a great bathing suit?”

I have my choices, which we’ll get to below. But allow me to give you my view on buying a good bathing suit. I know we’re all strapped for cash. Not every one can afford to spend a couple $100 on a bathing suit. But the old saying is true, you get what you pay for.

-A decent bathing suit that looks good, is of quality, and has support, will cost you. But it will be money well spent.

-Bathing suit shopping should be fun. A lot of people start to freak about when buying a bathing suit, but let’s change our minds and the views of our bodies.

-Try different cuts and shapes. Just like shopping for regular clothes, bathing suit should make you feel good as well

-Don’t be afraid of COLOR!!!! Black is cool, but nothing beats a sexy bathing suit in a bold color, or great print.

All the choices I’ve listed below are great retailers that have always offered great options. Everything is totally on trend, and of quality. But enough of that. Let’s take a look at some swim suits shall we….

Forever 21
Target

Becca Etc.
So as you can see so far, I have put up quite a ffew 2 pieces. Why? because I expect to see all my curvy/plus sizes/ thick loves in bikinis. It’s all about feel sexy and embracing your curves. Finding the right cut  can do wonders.
Swim Suits for All

 Monif C.

 Nakimuli

I actually have the blue and red Rue bathing suit. I absolutely can’t wait to wear it on someone’s beach. Being a Jersey girl, the shore and walking along the boardwalk is something we grow up doing. Despite the damage the hurricane sandy did, I will make my way to the shore this summer. But the bottoms fit so well and they cover my extra fluff just right.

 Rue 107

 Sorella Swim
Lane Bryant

So there you have it loves. These are great places to buy your swimsuit for the hot summer days that are coming fast and hard. Remember loves, have fun with this. Don’t worry about what others will think, don’t be afraid to show skin. We’re allowed to be fun, flirty and sexy on the beach or at the pool. So go crazy and go wild!

Becca etc.

Last Friday I had the awesome pleasure of attending the preview for the spring 2013 line of Becca Etc. Swimwear line. (I had a blast. check out the photos on my facebook fan page) I know you all keep thinking why do I keep writing about bathing suits in the winter. But I think this line is one that every woman can enjoy. Rebecca Virtue the designer of this rather awesome line, has been designing bathing suits for straight size women for 20+ years. And when she saw a void in the plus size community she decided to create a line that is not only appealing to the eye but is constructed to support us plus size/curvy/thick women.

Her line offers both one pieces as well as 2 pieces (owww owww) No more of only wearing black, or the nothing but ruching or buying the “miracle suit” to look 10 pound lighter. Be ready to rock bold colors, prints, different versions of 2 pieces, and one piece suits that don’t look like something you grandmother should be wearing.

Lets check out the line…

This Mamba print was a hit for the night. I definitely love it. The purple and the blues are great for the spring. Yes it’s one strap, and no worries the girls will be supported.

This style is my absolute favorite. The bustier is so sexy. Again it offers incredible support, and has an adjustable lace up back It is available in this great Peacock (blue), Hibiscus (purple) and black. And the little skirt keeps the suit young and modern, but still gives you that feeling of being covered. It is a full bottom.

For those who may not be ready to show that stomach just yet, you still have really great tankini options. In the same great colors, offer the same proper support. She offers regular bottoms as well as skirt bottoms with adjustable sides.

Talk about not the 1 piece we’re use to. I HATE when I see plus size bathing suits and all they offer is those horrid bathing suits with that skirt at the bottom. Im 22 not 72. I don’t want to cover up everything. Becca etc, made sure to keep the sexy and sassy all the while giving us piece of mind that we are covered. And I mean really lace is always the best.

For those that need and or like a cover up, she’s got you covered! *Pun definitely intended*
All in all I was really pleased with Becca’s vision. She really kept us in mind when creating her line and that is so important. To find more looks and colors and any other information you would like to know be sure to check out the Becca Etc. website what do you think?

Summer meets Fall

One thing we as bloggers go through is that change in weather, but not wanting to have to buy all new clothes. So as our lovely summer days fade to cool fall, and now chilly winter nights I still have the urge to wear my adorable summer dresses. So that begs the question, what does one do? For the last week and some change, I made a point to wear my favorite summer pieces adding a pair of boots and some stockings and ya girl was ready to go.

This little black dress made me feel so sexy. And I had to rock it with pops of color to break of the black. And to bring my girl into fall I DIY’d so holes in my stockings, my lovely denim jacket from Forever 21 and my thrifted black rider boots. You couldn’t tell me I was hot in this cold weather.

Over the summer Target was my place to shop, I was going HAM. The top, which is actually a simple body-con dress worked perfectly with this high/low skirt that i couldn’t get enough of. so to move it from my summer heels, I tossed on my opaque tights (from target) my fave leopard print wedges from Just fab and I was ready to brave this rather chilly NJ weather.

When I say this dress at Old Navy, I just knew that it had to be mine. And ever since I got it, it has been nothing but a head turn for me! To stay cool in the heat I paired it with my leopard print sandal wedges they just made my legs look sooooo choice lol To keep it warm for the fall/winter tights and knee high boots…POW!! lol

So my loves how did you transition from summer to fall/winter? Until next time love.

The hi/low of the summer

First let me give a shout out to Dots for selling this dress! So today was a relatively nice day here in Jersey, Nice enough to walk outside and not die of a heat stroke the second you walk outside lol I was heading to lunch with my bestie and then headed to the mall. So i threw on this hi/low dress I got from Dots about 2 weeks ago. When I saw this two tone dress, I just knew it had to make its way into my closet. It’s really thin, so I had to break out the spanx (which I have to buy a new pair) to wear it. But its fine because I got tons and tons of complements on it today. I wore it two ways. I tried it with the blue accessories and then kept it simple when we actually went to the mall. But I am definitely  in love with the hi/low hems for the summer.

Bracelet: local boutique
Bag: Call it Spring

How I wore it to the mall!

Time to get Bare…

With your necessities of course. I’m sure most of you have heard of Bare Necessities, or know someone who has. If you haven’t here’s a little bit about them; Launched in 1998 Bare Necessities has sold over 5 million bras and other intimate apparel products. It is the second largest online retailer of in mens and womens intimate clothing behind Victoria Secret. They offer a plethora of styles as well as size for every size.

But this post isn’t just about Bare Necessities, I have some exciting news. In February Bare Necessities launched Bareplus.com the the sister line for all us curvy women. I personally think this is great, because finding the right bra, or the right swimsuit to fit your bust line, or just sexy intimates to wear for you man is hard to come by, in good quality of course. The products they offer range from bras to shape wear, to swimsuits to sleepwear.

BarePlus by Bare Necessities will feature more than 500 bras that fit sizes 38A – 56J, including everyday bras, sports bras, and sexy bra and panty sets. The website, www.bareplus.com, will offer more than 1,000 styles of plus size lingerie, hosiery and swimwear, from 81 brands including Elomi, SPANX, Bali, Wacoal, Hanky Panky, and Calvin Klein.

“The launch of BarePlus reinforces our commitment to serving the woman with curves,” said Jay Dunn, Chief Marketing Officer for Bare Necessities. “The launch marks the beginning of our effort to build the best shopping experience for curvy women. Over the next several months, you’ll see more features, photography representative of our customer, and exciting new products from the world’s best brands that you won’t find anywhere else.”

BarePlus marks the first major effort executed by Dunn since joining Bare Necessities in 2011 as its first Chief Marketing Officer. Dunn came from Lane Bryant, where he had been the mastermind behind the landmark “Red Bra” ad campaign. The advertisement, which ran on American Idol, featured a plus size model flaunting a sexy red bra and panty set and became a national sensation after it was initially banned by both ABC and Fox for showing too much cleavage. The controversy ignited a national debate regarding how curvy women are portrayed in the media.

-BareNecessities.com Press release

In addition to their intimates Bareplus also offers swimwear, and not just one pieces anymore. The unique thing about what Bareplus offers is that they offer swimsuit tops based on your bra size, so that you feel supported, comfortable, and sexy while soaking in the sun.

I think Mr. Dunn had the right idea!

A Girl’s gotta have her Neon!

A girl has to love colors. And unless you’ve lived under a rock, you would know that neons are the thing to own! And I am not immune, I salivate over the thought of a Cambridge Satchel. I mean look at it, its soooo pretty.

I’m one for a pop of color and this is just the thing to do it. Buuuuut for those of us, who are little bit more budget conscience and clearly can’t afford a satchel that runs from about $140-$155 US, we need to find other alternatives.
So yesterday I treated myself to some shopping. I made pit stop in Torrid (I’ll get to that in another post), Forever 21, Old Navy, and awesome shoe store called Spring. I’ve stopped in the store plenty of times before, but what caught my eye was the EXTRA 30% OFF signs. What girl doesn’t love a great sale? So as I’m looking at the shoes and what not this bright little thing caught my eye. So of course I run straight for it! The bag was a originally $29 and I got it for $10.49 ahhhhh! Yup! Its so cute, super chic, so “in” Can’t wait to wear it!
