All Black for Malcolm X7:59 AM
First let me say I brake the cold for these pictures lol. But if you have been a follower of mine you know every year on this day I post an outfit in all black to honor Malcolm X. Why you may ask? Today marks the 50th anniversary of his assassination. On February 21st 1965 Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom. Some people have their views about him & what he stood for. But for me, he was more than "the opposite of MLK" He believed in self expression, self love, building your own self up. He believed that bettering yourself started from the inside before waiting on the outside world. Was he a bit radical...sure, but sometimes you have to long beyond the media & the "character" he's portrayed to be.
Cape: Anne Klein (Find it here & here)| Top: Lane Bryant (Find it Here)| Pants: Rafaella (Find it here)| Shoes: Shoedazzle
For this look I wanted something classic & chic. I found this cape from Anne Klein at Lord & Taylor. I was in love the second I laid my eyes on it. And on top of that, it was on sale. Win & Win!!! I paired it with a long black shirt from Lane Bryant's Livi Active line & pencil pants from Rafaella. The good thing about this look, you can recreate it multiple ways.
I haven't worn my knock off Valentino pumps in forever. But I thought they were perfect for this look. I got them from shoedazzle about a year or 2 ago. They are perfect tough of trendy & edgy.
So on today I honor the Legacy of Malcolm X. His life was taken in the most cowardly fashion, but I his life work didn't end there. Until next time loves.
