I know the thought of gray lipstick can be a bit intimidating. I can’t lie, I felt like that for a long time. Gray lipstick is one of the colors that you have to be ready for, but when you do wear it, it’s bomb.com. A few months back I had the urge to wear gray lipstick, I don’t know how or why, but I just wanted a change from my usual reds, pinks, and purples. Talk about COMPLETELY different. So of course, I went on the hunt for gray lipsticks. I am quite surprised that I found quite a few brands that sold gray lipsticks. I narrowed down these 5 must-have gray lipsticks because truthfully I felt they complimented my skin the most.
Kiko Milano: #542
Has more of a frosty finish and really is more silver than gray. It glides on super easy and wipes of just as easy.
Melt Cosmetics: Space Cake
This one of my 2 favorites. It’s super pigmented. It does have a matte finish but is not drying or hard to put on like most other matte lipsticks. This has more of blue undertone. It’s just a beautiful color. This color sold me on Melt Cosmetics lipsticks because they have great staying power. Even trying to wipe this off took a little bit of work. I was able to eat and drink with this shade and not see my lipstick on my food or the rim of my water bottle lol.
L.A. Girls Cosmetics: Poetic
Poetic from L.A. Girls is very similar to Melt’s Space Cake when I first swatched it on my hand. On the lips, they do differ slightly, but if you were paying attention, you couldn’t tell the difference. Poetic does have a matte finish as well. It glides on easily, the pigmentation is okay, the color is buildable which I don’t mind. I also love this one because it’s one of the more affordable options.
NYX Liquid Suede: Stone Fox
Stone Fox was actually the first gray shade I found. I purchased mine from Ulta right when they got this shade in store. Like most of the NYX Liquid Suede lipstick, this glides on easily. It has beautiful pigmentation. It doesn’t stain my lips. However, the staying power isn’t all that great. But for the price, I can’t really be mad at that.
The Lip Bar; Silent Killer
My second favorite shade. I love The Lip Bar liquid lipsticks. This also has a matte finish, but isn’t drying on the lips, nor does it make your lips look dress. As you can see it’s very pigmented. This is a very rich shade of gray. My only beef with this lipstick is, it stains my lips when I take it off. I have to use my makeup remover and olive or coconut oil to get it off. But that’s definitely a blessing and a curse. That means, this color will last you for quite some time.
There you have it loves. Be sure to check out my youtube video of these lipsticks and subscribe to my channel as well! See you in my next post.
