SAG Awards 2017 Nominees Beauty Challenge| Uzo Aduba

Hey Loves,

I always love using my favorite celebs as a source of inspiration. So when a few of my blogger babes teamed up to a SAG Awards 2017 Nominees beauty challenge, I was totally on board. The SAG awards will air January 29th, it’s actually one of the few award shows during award season that I actually like to watch.  For my look, I picked the beautiful chocolate beauty Uzo Aduba. She is nominated for best actress in a comedy series for her role as Suzanne in Netflix hit show Orange is the New Black.  Her look is so simple but is speaks volumes. I love that the focus was on her beautiful eyes, her full lips, and cheeks.  Be sure to check my girl Crystal from Society of Harlow’s post. I’m sure her look will be amazing. Let’s check out my look!

Before I sat down to film this Uzo Aduba inspired makeup look, I knew I had to have a trophy. So I quick drove to Party City and scooped up this stars trophy. I’m so proud of what Uzo has been able to accomplish over the last few years. I think she does an incredible job of playing Suzanne on the show and I look forward to seeing what other work she’ll do in the future

Uzo’s makeup is always flawless. So I wanted to make sure my foundation was flawless as well. I started with my Make Up For Ever Step 1 mattifying primer because I have super oily skin. I followed that up with the E.L.F orange color corrector. Because I have hyperpigmentation, color correcting is super important for me for a flawless look. Lastly, before I put on my foundation I used my Make Up For Ever full coverage concealer. I put that right on top of my orange color corrector. Then top all of that off with my Kat Von D Lock it Foundation. I’m obsessed with that foundation. It has amazing coverage, last all day, and is perfect for women of color.

The eyes seemed very simple. I used my Tartelette & Bloom palette from Tarte and lightly dusted the light brown shade over my eyes. The used my NYX black eyeliner along both my top and bottom lash line. Uzo’s eyes seemed really dramatic, which I loved. I then went over the black eyeliner with a blue eyeliner from Black Up. It adds a nice hint of blue along the lower lash line. I used Ardell Demi lashes for a nice full look, followed Too Faced Better than Sex mascara (which happens to be my current favorite mascara).

For my lip color, I know it’s not the same shade as Uzo’s. I really wanted to use my Heroine MAC lipstick, but I couldn’t not find mine to save my life. I tore my makeup area apart looking for it, with no luck. So I mixed MAC lipsticks Rebel and Candy Yum Yum and topped it off with Hard Candy’s Volumizing Lip Gloss in the shade Mauve Magic.

I love how the look turned out. See you in my next post.

xoxo

Shay
