Hotel Review: TownePlace Suites Downtown New Orleans

new orleans hotels

I’ve always been an advocate for solo travel. Especially as a young woman, getting out and exploring different cities on my own and my own time is one of the best things I can do for myself. When I decided to go to NOLA I was looking for a nice hotel that was dead smack in the middle of the French Quarter. I found TownePlace Suites Downtown New Orleans hotel and it was perfect for me during my week stay.

A part of the Marriott family TownePlace Suites added to my Bonvoy points (which is always a major plus). It’s located right on Canal street with easy access to the French Quarter & all that downtown New Orleans has to offer; food, museums, Harrah’s casino & shopping. For someone like me who doesn’t want to be in the middle of a tourist area, this hotel was perfect. I was able to “experience” all of the French Quarter (including Bourbon St.) but when I was over it, the hotel was a short walk and I could retreat to peace & quiet.

I was given a room on the 12th floor which gave me a beautiful view of the city every morning. I couldn’t be more grateful to wake up and see the sun coming up.

TownePlace gave me comforts of home. I fully stocked kitchenette complete with refrigerator, dishwasher, stovetop & dishes. It’s perfect for those extended stays. You don’t have to eat out all the time.

I had a queen size bed that was beyond comfortable. I spent my 1st 2 days just vegging out in bed with blinds open.

The bathroom was very modern and simple. The lighting was PERFECT. Talk about selfie lighting.

The shower was HUGE. I’m a lover a glass shower door and a walk-in shower. There’s nothing like coming back to your hotel and taking a nice hot shower after a long day of sightseeing.

The rooftop was one of the selling points of the hotel. The view was undeniable, especially when the sun went down and Canal street lit up. Each evening I ventured up to VUE the rooftop bar for happy hour drinks and a breathtaking view. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

View from the rooftop. You can see in the distance the Hard Rock Hotel that collapsed a few months ago.

New Orleans was an absolute dream. NOLA owes me nothing. I am looking forward to going back one day. If you are looking to explore New Orleans but do not want to stay on or next to Bourbon street, TownePlace Suites is the hotel for you.

Happy and safe travels.

xoxo
