It was all a DREAM....

Hey Loves,

I use to read word up magazine. Salt & Peppa and Heavy D up in the limousine....

I had this song on blast pretty much all day yesterday.Last night I headed to Brooklyn (yet again) to a poetry slam, and I thought what better way to rock out but in a Biggie shirt. And when I tell I searched...honey I searched. The H&M near me didn't have any more Biggie graphic tees. And I really didn't want to roam Brooklyn with Audrey Hepburn on the front of my shirt lol But Spencers came through and had great options. Naturally I had to cut it up. I wanted to go full on old school. And I must say I was diggin myself.

So appropriate for what I had on right?! lol

T-shirt: Spencers/ Leggings: American Apparel/ Shoes: Shoedazzle/ Jewelry: Various places

Until next time loves

Denim & Diamonds

Hey Loves,

So the denim and diamonds event was rather interesting. though it was labeled as a "networking event" it was essentially a hangout session. Everyone there pretty much knew each other. And if you didn't know someone, in typical blogger fashion you just handed them a business card.

It was held at The Stellan, it was cute, two floors with house music on blast, (ya'll know Ms. Gwen loves house music lol) But as much as I enjoy having a reason to get dressed up, I could have skipped the denim & diamonds event.

That's was pretty much that. Until next time loves.

Going Print Crazy

Hey Loves,

So recently within the last couple days, I have been going on a print binge. I find myself gravitating towards anything with an aztec print or a geometric print. Granted it's definitely a trend for the summer. But a lot of my recent purchases include something with a really strong print.

But the truth is print is very fashion forward and chic. Now I don't advocate for full on print outfits, because only certain people can pull it off the right way. I am not one of those people. But pairing a printed shoe with a basic suit, or top and bottom. You allow for the shoe to be your statement.

One of my recent purchases from Shoedazzle. For those that want to be office chic, there will do it for you.

Some times a nice printed jumpsuit with a black shoe and statement jewelry can do wonders.

Or my recent personal favorite; harem pants with a nice denim top and flats is great for a summer brunch with the girls.

And who doesn't love a bandu top. Ladies don't get it twisted, we can wear bandu tops, just know the difference between chic and tacky.

Here are some other printed options, that I'm currently swooning over

ING dress from Macy's

Igigi wrap dress via Madison Plus

Kaleidoscope pants for Dorothy Perkins

These are just a select few items that I have my eye on. Remember prints are made to be fun, and to add to your overall look. Not overpower. Cause the last thing you want is to look like Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala looking like you grandmother's couch. lol I'm just saying. So let me know how you feel about prints.

Until next time loves.

Torrid Blogger Event

Hey Loves,

So I just couldn't wait to finally get home and write this post. 1. because it's my 1st post with my new camera. and 2. cause Torrid really got me excited. I was going to wait until next week to post about FFFweek, but this just needed to posted asap. I got an invite to attend the Torrid Fall Preview during Full Figured Fashion Week. I arrived early which meant 1sr dibs on trying on clothes.

They had a small selection of what we are to expect for the fall. But me personally I headed straight for the denim. I like many other plus size bloggers can attest to the fact they Torrid jeans are some of the best in the industry. As a part of our experience, if  we wanted, we could play dress up. And you all know how I feel about that lol

So lets hop in a see how I felt about these new up and coming Torrid Jeans

The Boyfriend Jean.

They cut is skinny, so it does form your body very well. Be still offers the laid back feel that come with boyfriend jeans. They also will stretch and comfort to your shape. So eventually the overall look will come together.

Can you see how excited I am lol

The Jegging
These jeggings are amazing. They fit like a glove. And are super forgiving. It gives cleans up all the lumps and things, and allows to show your curves. The waistband sits at your natural, you can choose to wear belt if you want. But if you don't, you won't have to walk around pulling up your pants. I do love this length, but do wish they we a bit longer.

Full Outfits

This cheetah print not is the typical look. It flows very nicely.
The jacket is a part of there army motif that is going to HUGE this fall
The Jeggings, I spoke about above.

This top doesn't is another flowy top that Torrid is known for. I thought the back was very cute, a nice touch of detail. I am wearing a size 2, it's cut slightly big, so I added the belt, cause it's what I do. And I'm actually happy that the stripes are horizontal #breakingfashionrules

I had a blast with Torrid. They are so lucky I took the jeans off lol. Cause I sure enough was ready to walk out of the event with them on. I will be posting some more events photos on my facebook, be sure to head over there.

Until next time loves

But anyway, I bought this dress from Strawberry sometime in February and only wore it once. I actually forgot I had it cause, I couldn't find it. Model Spotlight; Samantha Lebbie

Hey Loves,

It's that time again! Another Model Spotlight feature. They just keep getting better and better. I am so excited for this young lady. Because surprisingly, I had been reblogging her photos on my tumblr for quite sometime before I desided to take my blog seriously. So it is such an honor that she has agreed to this. So without further ado lets meet our June Model Spotlight!

Name: Samantha Lebbie
Age: 20’s
Clothing Size: 16
Agency (if applicable): IPM Model Management
Blog name (if applicable): www.SamanthaLebbie.com / SamanthaDModel

What made you want to become a model?
I’ve always enjoy empowering other women to love the skin they are in and embrace their curves. Being a Model My actions speak louder than my words. I’ve always been a curvy girl and I’ve always embraced my curves so I’m elated I can be a platform for other women who are just the same

What are some of the brands that you have worked with?
I’ve worked with Curvysta Plus, Shanda Says, Jill Alexander, Youtheary Khmer, Ashley Stewart, Qristyl Frazier, Tru Divas, Eyani Couture, Empress Lingerie  and soooo many more.

How long have you been working?
I have been Professionally Modeling for about 1 ½ years

So many girls want to become a model what advice would give them? What should they expect?
You have to do your research. Modeling is a Business and it should be treated as such. The Plus Size Industry has many exceptions to the rule and you never know you may be one. So if modeling is a career choice you really want to pursue you must put in the hard work, time and money to get it done.  Consistency and Dedication is key!

A common misconception is that plus size/curvy/thick models live unhealthy life styles. What do you say to people who think like that?
Ha! That is so untrue.  I think the hardest part with being a plus model is that you have to stay a certain size… you can’t lose too much or gain too much weight! It can become stressful so most plus models live a healthy lifestyle to maintain the figure they have.  I’m pretty sure we work out a lot harder than our straight size counterparts.

Was this your dream career? How did you get to this point in your career?
I've always dreamed of being in a position in my life where I can help people! Being a Model I've helped so many people most of them I don’t even know. It took a lot of hard work, prayer, consistency and dedication to get to where I am today. I try to always stay positive and I refused to be defeated especially by myself. I have an incredible support system. I have AMAZING Supporters.

If you could be doing anything else other than modeling, what would it be?
I would start a Clothing line! Although being in front of the camera is awesome I would love to be behind it as well. FUTURE PLANS (hint)

Where do you get your confidence from? How do you stay in a positive frame of mind?
I've always been a positive person even before being a Model. Life is so short and we shouldn't allow the issues of the world to bring us down. I’ve never been bullied or teased about my size and I feel it’s because of my confidence, I learned to accept myself and embrace my curves at an early age  although at times as most women I wanted to lose weight but I never allowed it to stop me from loving me for who I am right now. Confidence is EVERYTHING!  When you put Self-Acceptance and Confidence together you are unstoppable.

Why do you think it so important for plus size/curvy/thick models to have the same respect as straight size models?
Just as our straight size counterparts we sell to a market of people. However, Statistics show that the Average woman in America is a size 14….What does that tell you!!!!  Plus Models are becoming a priority in the Industry  it’s taking a while for Industry Professionals to catch on but in due time there will be no Plus Models or Straight Models…Just MODELS!

So many girls grow with such low self esteem. Were you ever like that? If so what advice woulf you give young girls struggling with her self esteem?
Fortunately, I didn't have self-esteem issues growing up!  I was always the curvy girl within my group of friends and I didn't stick out because of my size…I was a very confident girl growing up I was always told I was beautiful at home and outside  and allowed my confidence to show. However, I did have friends and associates who weren't on the same page as me. I would let them know that you have to accept yourself for who you are… everyone is uniquely made and to God you are PERFECT! And as I said before with Self-Acceptance and Confidence you are unstoppable so I encourage every women to allow their confidence to exude not only through your walk but through your talk Confidence is something that others can see and feel.

The last couple questions are just to have fun with….
1.       Hagen Daz or Ben & Jerry?
Ben & Jerry
2.       Favorite tv show growing up?
Living Single
3.       Favorite Halloween costume?
Sailor Woman
4.       Louis Vitton or Hermes?
Hermes
5.       Buying your boyfriend his favorite video game or those new pair of shoes?
Sorry!!!  New Pair of Shoes

Until next time loves

xoxo
